ABOUT CHRIS
Chris Maher, our resident ‘Soul Man’ has an all-encompassing passion for great soul music. For the last 6 and a half years he’s been cooking things up on his show, the Soul Kitchen on Dublin City FM.
In 2003 while attending the launch of the STAX Museum of American Soul Music Chris was adopted as an Honorary Tennessean & Ambassador of Soul Music by the State of Tennessee (Senate Joint Resolution #305).
Chris is also the Founder & CEO of the Dublin City Soul Festival, which launched in May 2007 and went on to win an Irish Times Living Dublin Award for Culture & Tourism later that year.
Having recently returned from a pilgrimage to the old Motown studios in Detroit, Chris is really excited about sharing his favourite records with you! Think of labels such as; Motown, Atlantic & STAX – fabulous artists like; Al Green, Aretha Franklin & James Brown and you’ll get an idea for the musical treats that await you on his new show, the Soul Train.
Each show is a unique combination of your favourite classic soul songs; suggest an old favourite, ask for a surprise or just listen in and enjoy!
